My name is Amanda Kazemi, and I am a visual artist from Southern California. I primarily use graphite and charcoal to create my drawings, but I also enjoy experimenting with different mediums. I pull inspiration and direction from animals, plants, and the human figure. By entangling these inspirations, I explore topics such as existence, time, and the transience of human experience.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from San Diego State University and a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Drawing from Laguna College of Art and Design. I’ve spent the last 15 years of my life as an arts educator working with students of all ages. I am passionate about bringing art into people’s lives, especially as a means of self-expression. Currently, I work at the collegiate level teaching subjects such as Art for Elementary, Drawing and Composition, and Color Theory.
Graphite and charcoal were among the first materials I used as a kid. It’s an accessible medium that has infinite expressions. Over the years, I’ve alternated between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, utilizing charcoal and graphite throughout. There is so much more to delve into with these mediums and I continue to be impressed by its versatility. I’ve categorized my artwork into years so viewers can see where I’ve journeyed.
